Introduction:
Background
The UAP Endowment Fund was established after the Government of Pakistan and United States of America recalling the close ties in scientific and technological cooperation, signed a USS 12.4 million Food for Progress, Agreement on September 15, 2003. Under this agreement the University of Agriculture Peshawar received an amount of Rs. 122.000 millions to initiate and promote development of Agriculture and other related research activities at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. In addition to this the fund will be further enhanced with the contribution of Government as well as from Non-Government sources.
Moreover the income generated through investment of the principal amount in Government approved banks/institutions shall be used for transfer of technology (TT) activities in line with the Pakistan’s long term research and development goals for the agriculture sector. The goals shall focus on food security, poverty alleviation and promoting broad based equitable and sustainable agriculture.
