Network Operation Center (NOC)

A network operations center (NOC) has been established under the project CNEP, from where Network Manager and other concerned Network experts supervise, monitor and maintain the entire university network.
NOC is responsible for monitoring the network for alarms or certain conditions that may require special attention to avoid impact on the networks performance

NOC is also responsible for monitoring for power failures, communication line alarm (such as bit errors, framing errors, line coding errors, and circuits down) and other performance issues that may affect the University network. NOC analyze problems, perform troubleshooting, communicate with site technicians and remote offices/sites, and track problems through resolution. If necessary, NOC escalate problems to the appropriate personnel. For severe conditions that are impossible to anticipate, such as a power failure or optical fiber cable cut, NOC have procedures in place to immediately contact concerned firms/technicians with whom the university has signed a contract for repair/maintenance to remedy the problem.

The NOC is also playing a role of the main office for the CNEP Project. All the complaints regarding Network, Updates regarding website and correspondence with the office of the Project Director and the University top management as well as email correspondence with HEC, PERN, PTCL and other concerned department and firms are carried out from here.
