It is a cause of great pride and joy for me to welcome you at College of Veterinary Sciences, The University of Agriculture, Peshawar. This College was established in 2004 to launch the 5-years composite DVM degree program. College of Veterinary Sciences as a part of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sciences mainly focuses on teaching more than 46 courses in veterinary sciences to the students of DVM degree program. Mission of the College is to produce professionally competent and skilled veterinary graduates for development of livestock sector of the country. For this purpose state of art facilities in the form of laboratories, clinics, livestock farm and other related infrastructure were developed with the help of HEC. Several new postgraduate degree programs have been started in the discipline of Pathology, Parasitology, Theriogenology, Pharmacology, Clinical Medicine and Surgery. The Zoonotic Information Resource Center & Zoonotic Research Diagnostic Lab was established with the collaboration of Relief International to investigate and design strategies for effective control of emerging zoonotic diseases. Recently a 03 years Diploma in Veterinary Sciences (DVS) has been started in order to strengthen the Livestock and Veterinary Sciences Sector. The future vision is that with further strengthening of the existing facilities, the College of Veterinary Sciences will be developed into Faculty of Veterinary Sciences with the creation of three major departments that will lead to introduce other postgraduate degree programs (MPhil and PhD) in different disciplines of Veterinary Sciences and fostering advanced research. The overall objective of these developments is to produce quality graduates having knowledge and skills compatible to jobs and development at the national and international levels and to conduct research supported by international linkages for minimizing livestock losses and ensuring safe human food of animal origin.
